CRISIS LINE

If you are experiencing a crisis or want to help someone who is, call our 24-hour crisis line at 248-456-0909 or 1-800-231-1127.

Our trained crisis counselors provide compassionate, nonjudgmental counseling and information and referrals from a database of more than 4,500 sources.

Our Teen 2 Teen Talkline (248-292-0194) is available from 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday. This confidential resource is staffed by and for teens and parents of teens.

EMERGENCY PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES

24-Hour Psychiatric Screening
Through a contract with the Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority, we provide 24-hour emergency psychiatric screening services for Oakland County adults, adolescents and children who are uninsured or underinsured for mental health services or on Medicare or Medicaid.

Screenings are done at our Crisis Screening Unit (no appointment necessary).

Short-Term Inpatient Care
Also through contract with the Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority, we operate a Crisis Residential Unit, a voluntary, short-term residential psychiatric care facility.

Some clients screened at our Crisis Screening Unit are referred to the Crisis Residential Unit for psychiatric care and stabilization for up to two weeks.

YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES

The Sanctuary
If you are a runaway or thinking of running away, or are experiencing a personal or family crisis, the door to The Sanctuary is always open. The Sanctuary provides a safe haven (up to two weeks) for teens and pre-teens ages 10-17 in crisis.

The goal is to reunite the family through counseling and support to both the youth and the parents/guardians.

A Step Forward
If you are age 16 to 20 and homeless, our A Step Forward shelter can provide a free, safe place for you to live and also help you make the transition to self-sufficiency.

Family Counseling

We provide free, in-the-home crisis counseling to families with children ages 10 to 21 years old. The goals of the counseling services are to address the crisis which threatens to separate the family and to divert youths from the streets and/or detention.

Services are provided weekly for up to six months. Contact our main office for information.

Graduated Apartment Program
Our Graduated Apartment Program (GAP) provides supported apartment living for youths working toward economic independence.

Counselors and transitional living specialists work with the young people (age 17 22) many of whom were homeless or graduates of our A Step Forward shelter to help them achieve and sustain self sufficiency. Contact A Step Forward for more information.

Street Outreach Program
Our Street Outreach Program provides counseling, information, referrals and hygiene kits to youths on the streets of various Oakland County communities. For more information call the Youth Outreach Center.

SaYes Theatre Troupe
Bringing teen struggles to life, our SaYes Theatre Troupe performs interactive, thought- provoking skits about common youth issues. The skits open the door for discussion about such important topics as substance abuse, sexual activity and tolerance, among others. To schedule a SaYes performance for your school, church, civic organization or other group, call
